You Can Support Artist Resource
Improvements | SuggestionsStatus ReportDonors | Wish List

If we have informed you, promoted your work, or entertained you,
please support our future. We need your help.

You can help us in 5 ways:

  1. If you have been served by our site, you may wish to contribute $5 or more to support our programs.
Please note that we have acquired non-profit status (thanks to California lawyers for the Arts), and your donation is tax-deductible. You can deduct your donation as (A) a charitable contribution, (B) as a membership fee, or (C) as a publicity expense if you submitted your listing, shows or classes.
    Mail donations to directly to
    Li Gardiner, Webmistress
    Artist Resource
    147-22 20th Road, Whitestone, NY 11357
Make checks to payable to Artist Resource
Note on the check that it is a donation, and keep a copy for your records.
Include your email address, and we will acknowledge your donation by email.

  2. Donate your time and skills. If you do, we will create a ‘staff portfolio’ for you online.

  3. Host our site. We stayed with Best Internet because they provided good tech support, hired locally, didn't try to control our content, and didn't require us to put ads all over the place. However, that has changed, since Best was eaten by Verio. Verio does not provide dial-up access, so our monthly fees have double. We would love to have a reliable home at an ISP that wants to support the arts. We need about 300MB of space (we host some portfolios) and support for CGI/perl and some database software still to be determined. We need a dependable ISP that won't shut down for maintenance. Do you have a recommendation?

  4. Send us listings, news and information. Your letters and comments are also always welcome.

  5. Spread the word. Tell your art friends, teachers, co-workers, organization, gallery, and patrons about Artist Resource.
NEW and Improved:
SITE REDESIGN  We are redesiging our site to use database technology and a more powerful search engine. Our first change will include better, more accessible global navigation. Keep your eyes on the tops of the pages.

EVENTS AND JOB POSTINGS We are setting up a script that will let you instantly and automatically post your information to the site!

SUGGESTIONS from members:
adding animation, adding a WAV soundfile with an artist's narrative. The site is currently very low-tech and has few images, to use as little memory as possible, and to load fast for artists with slow modems. But some members want to see more art on the site and others would like it to be structured in a more interesting way, perhaps by using frames.

STATUS REPORT

Okay, no more status reports. It's a bit depressing. Times are hard for non-profits.
We have a funding goal of $50,000. We have received bids on improving our services and expanding to other cites. The bids range from $3,000 to $28,000 in programming and software.

Can you help?

If so, we can send you a proposal to halp you decide which program you would like to support and where your money would be most effective in building community, bringing technological tools to artists, aiding education, etc.
