The company provides the following client services: promotions &
marketing; industry consulting & strategic planning; business management;
legal consultation & negotiation; publishing, licensing & copyright;
national distribution; radio promotions & placement; and royalties
collection. Stone Tiger, the label arm of the company, promotes and releases
conscious reggae music from such artists as Admiral Tibet, Lehbanchuleh,
Mikey General, Terry Ganzie, Edi Fitzroy & The Abyssinians. Stone Tiger
is currently involved in the promotions and February 2004 release of the Tosh
Foundation¹s ³Peter Tosh Tribute Album² which includes songs from such
well-established artists as Eric Clapton, Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead,
Guns n¹ Roses, and Cypress Hill. Stone Tiger, through its artists and through
the International Arts Foundation, also contributes to several non-profit
projects directed towards children¹s issues. This is a non-paid position,
however, school credit is available depending on your university¹s
requirements.
There are several internship positions available worldwide open to
students & non-students seeking experience and a career in the Music
Industry. Successful completion of any internship program will result in a
letter of reference for future applications.
The position is excellent for someone interested in a career in the music
business, or at least marketing and/or public relations. Ideally, the best
candidate would already enjoy music and would be active in the local music
scene and would enjoy attending shows from local artists in addition to
national acts. Of course, the selected candidate will be a self-starter, hard
working, responsible, and capable of following through on projects.
It does not matter what degree program the person is enrolled in; however,
business and/or communications classes such as marketing and public relations
are a plus. Of course, general knowledge of the music business will be
preferred but is not mandatory because it will be learned on the job. The internship
is specifically designed to provide hands-on experience with all elements of
management and record company operation, distribution, retail promotion,
radio promotion, publicity and tour support functions in addition to other
projects dependent upon the intern¹s location.
All applicants must have access to email and possess either brief
knowledge or willingness to learn how to operate in a virtual office
environment.

Job Description = CALL FOR ARTISTS
A Community Art Project sponsored by The Joyful Child Foundation, In
Memory of Samantha Runnion
The Joyful Child Foundation is seeking experienced artists for a community
arts project in Orange County, CA. The project requires a volunteer artist or
artist team to collaborate with local residents in the design and creation of
a mosaic wall featuring ceramic tiles painted by area children. The completed
project will be a unique and permanent piece of community art that celebrates
the creativity and wonderment of children.
Established last summer by Erin Runnion and Ken Donnelly following the
abduction and murder of their daughter Samantha, The Joyful Child Foundation
intends to transform grief into positive action. The mural is envisioned as a
lasting tribute to Samantha's creative spirit, and to the community that
rallied around the Runnion-Donnelly family in the wake of her disappearance.
The participating artist or artist team will be expected to create a
harmonious design that integrates the children's artwork; to supervise the
installation of the mural; to provide guidance in the selection of low

timeline for the project.

6/12 Advanced-Level Internship Program
Job Title = Advanced-Level Internship Program Co. name = Smithsonian American
Art Museum
Start date = September or February
Schedule =
Salary =
Job Description =
What is SAAM?
With the largest collection of American art in the world and the oldest
federal art collection, the Smithsonian American Art Museum offers a
stimulating environment for professional museum training. Since 1968, the
Museum's internship programs have provided instruction and inspiration to
hundreds of graduate and undergraduate students, as well as others seeking
self-enrichment. Former interns have achieved success in professional
positions in the art and museum fields, nationally and internationally.
What is the Advanced-Level Program?
The goal of the Advanced-Level Program is a comprehensive knowledge of museum
operations by combining "hands on" experience with professional
instruction. The career interests and aspirations of each intern are
considered in making placements. Students participate in a series of museum
projects in a format designed to identify, stimulate, and promote the
academic and professional objectives of its participants. These assignments
are combined with supplementary workshops and seminars to provide exposure to
a wide range of museum careers and opportunities. Over twenty-five workshops
and lectures in art history, conservation, registration, administration,
budget procedures and other topics are presented. An extensive required
reading list supplements practical experience and workshop presentations.
Interns are required to maintain a detailed journal during their final
project. An oral comprehensive examination based on each intern's particular
program concludes the training. Students receive a letter grade and
evaluation after successfully completing each section of the internship.
Mentoring relationships between interns and staff are promoted and program.
This program can be completed in either two semesters or one semester
beginning in the Fall or Spring according to academic calendar. No fee is
charged for this program and academic credit can be offered through the home
institution.
Who Can Apply?
Master's degree candidates are preferred. Pre-doctoral candidates, who have
had little previous museum experience and exceptional college graduates and
seniors, will be considered on an individual basis. There is no program fee
for participants and academic enrollment at the time of participation is not
required.
How to Apply
There is no specific application form for this program. To apply, candidates
must submit the following: 1.) A statement of purpose expressing personal
career goals in the museum field, what skills he or she hopes to acquire, and
why the Smithsonian American Art Museum has been chosen as a learning center;
2.) A resume of relevant educational and work experience; 3.) three letters
of recommendation (academic and/or professional); and 4.) transcripts from
all schools attended above high school level. Application materials
(statement, resume, transcripts, and recommendations) may be sent either as a
packet or individually. Applicants should contact the Office of Intern
Programs at the telephone number or e-mail address listed below, to make sure
all items have been received.
Application materials should be addressed to:
The Intern Program Officer
Smithsonian American Art Museum
P.O. Box 37012
The Victor Building, #3125, MRC 970
Washington, DC 20013-7012
The deadline to apply to this internship is March 1 for both the Fall and
Spring Semesters. Late applications will be placed on a waiting list or
defered to the following semester.
For information or questions, contact Judith Hollomon Telephone: 202 /
275-1554 or e-mail: hollomonj@saam.si.edu
Academic Credit or Financial Assistance?
Graduate students from all universities and colleges are eligible to earn
academic credit from their home insititution, in contractual arrangement with
the Smithsonian American Art Museum. When an intern receives credit for the
internship and pays tuition for this credit, the SAAM requires the home
university to share fifty percent of the student's tuition payment with the
Museum, but not less than $1000 for the academic year or one-semester option.
If the university waives the tuition or only a nominal fee is charged to
cover administrative costs, the facility and instruction fee will also be waived.
One stipend is available each year for a participant of academic merit and
financial need.
